Several thousand years ago, Chinese physicians discovered that Qi circulates throughout the body along 14 major channels. These channels, or meridians, form a highly complex invisible network transporting and directing Qi to every corner of the body. Good health depends on balanced circulation of Qi throughout the meridians.
Through centuries of trial and error and meticulous observation, the Chinese accurately mapped the location of the meridians. They were able to identify hundreds of specific points where Qi can be accessed and stimulated. These points are commonly called “acupoints.”

The first treatment includes a thorough intake and examination, so it is lengthier than regular sessions. Following the intake, patients are asked to lie down in their own comfortable treatment room and relax. Needles are generally maintained for 15-30 minutes depending on the condition of the patient. You should plan on your first treatment taking up to an hour and a half and up to one hour for follow-up treatments.
Most people fear acupuncture needles because they compare them to the hypodermic needles of their Primary Care Physicians. Medical hypodermic needles are stiff, hollow, and thick for forcing liquid into the patient’s flesh. This usually results in an uncomfortable, if not painful, procedure.
